Lather East
Emilie Davidson Hoyt’s once-tiny all-natural beauty product company has morphed into a full-service oasis. The brand’s only spa and first East Coast retail store, Lather Spa in New York City, features the same customized mixing bar available in the California (Pasadena, San Jose) and Arizona (Scottsdale) shops.
Choose from more than 20 pure essential oils — such as grounding peppermint, spicy vanilla, or floral lavender — to create your own body oil or lotion. The difference here is that the personal blend goes with you into one of the 15 treatment rooms for a massage ($115, 60 minutes) delivered on a heated table (book with Russian native Natasha). Other standouts include the Bamboo Indulgence ($85, 45 minutes), a head-to-toe exfoliation and steam with Lather’s best-selling bamboo-lemongrass scrub, and the Oxygen Facial ($125, 60 minutes). Relax afterward on white modular furniture splashed with colorful pillows in front of the air-purifying Living Wall — a vertical terraced garden of green plants, flowers, and foliage.
